An Indian man died while undergoing smile repair surgery ahead of his wedding last week.
The man, Laxmi Narayana Vinjam, was 28 years old.
He was from Hyderabad in Telangana State.
Laxmi passed away while undergoing a "smile designing" procedure at FMS International Dental Clinic in Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad, on Friday (16/2).
Laxmi's father, Ramulu Vinjam, suspects that his son died from an overdose of anesthesia.
"We rushed him to a nearby hospital, where the doctors declared him dead on arrival," he said.
Ramuku said his son did not tell the family about the operation.
"He had no health problems, the doctors are responsible for his death," he said.
K Venkateshwar Reddy, Station House Officer at Jubilee Hills, told NDTV that Laxmi Narayana visited the clinic on February 16 at around 2.30pm local time.
"At around 4.30pm, she was taken to the operation theatre and the procedure lasted for almost two hours. Around 7pm, they called her father and she was rushed to Apollo Hospital in Jubilee Hills, where she was declared dead on arrival," Reddy said.
According to him, Laxmi's body has been sent for autopsy.
Laxmi Narayana was engaged a week ago and was to get married next month.
A lawsuit has reportedly been filed by the family against the clinic for negligence that led to Laxmi's death.
"We are examining the clinic's records and security camera footage," officials said.
