Indian Teen Breaks Guinness World Record as Boy with World's Longest Hair
Sidakdeep Singh Chahal, a 15-year-old boy from India, stole the show when the Guinness World Record recognized him as the boy with the most extended hair in the world. His hair is recorded to be about 4 feet 9.5 inches long (about 146 centimeters).
With hair that long, it's no surprise that Chahal spends an hour every session, twice a week, to take care of his hair, from washing drying to combing it. However, she admits that without her mother's help, the process could take the whole day.
For Chahal, hair is not just about style or appearance. It is part of her identity as a Sikh. According to Sikh teachings, hair is a gift from God and should not be cut.
Although many of his relatives and friends share his views on hair, none have hair as long as Chahal. Many were even surprised when Chahal revealed his extraordinarily long hair.
Of course, when Chahal announced his achievement in getting the title from the Guinness World Record, there were some skeptics. But with the evidence at hand, he managed to convince them. Chahal never targeted himself to become a world record holder.
In the course of his life, Chahal was once ridiculed for his hair. At that time, he once considered cutting his hair when he grew up. However, with this achievement, he feels proud of himself.
"I feel very proud because it puts a positive focus on Sikhism, and makes me a very unique person in the world," he says.
His long, thick hair is tied up tightly in a bun, and he protects it with a standard head covering commonly used in the Sikh community.
Outside of his daily life filled with hair care, Chahal is an ordinary teenager with various hobbies such as playing sports, video games, and reading. Although his hair has brought him international recognition, he remains humble and states that his hair is not the only thing that defines him.
"Believe it or not, but my whole personality is not based on my hair," he says.
On the other hand, the world was also shocked by the unbelievably long hair of a teenage girl named Nilanshi Patel from India. Her 6 feet 6.7 inches (about 199 centimeters) of hair is fantastic and has also broken the world record.
