Woman Named Siri Must Change Name After Apple Update

A woman in the UK says she was forced to change her name because of the latest update to Apple's iOS software. Siri Price, in Edinburgh, told that she had to do this to stop her iPhone from ringing every time someone called her name.

The 26-year-old fitness trainer is now called as Siz. She said that Apple's voice-activated digital assistant would trigger whenever his friends shout "Hey Siri" to call him.

"I work at a gym with a lot of people around, so everyone learned quickly not to say 'Hey' when addressing me or there would be a lot of beeping going on," Price said.

At latest update, users only need to say "Siri" for their device to kick into action.

"It's annoying, but it's manageable. Now people can't even say my name. I'm really angry. My co-workers have to sit down and think of a solution because people's phones keep beeping non-stop," the woman said.

She said the name Siri means "beautiful woman who leads you to victory" in Old Norse.

However, Siri is Apple's abbreviation for 'Speech Interpretation and Recognition Interface'.

"I'm sure Apple could have chosen another name - there are a lot of people named Siri and their lives have become quite intolerable because of this," Price said.

Apple has so far not said anything about the problems Price is experiencing.
